Some Nights.....A Blog Post

Some nights you gather with friends to share a good meal at a favorite place, explore tasty wines and let the worries of the week go by the wayside. An evening where the wine flows and provides fertile ground for ideas. Most of the time these ideas will never sprout, sometimes though one will take hold. Deové is one that took hold.

On one of those aforementioned nights a group of friends started conspiring to make a barrel of wine. That night there were a lot of elbows in ribs and cries of 'do ya wanna'. Once decided a barrel was purchased, grapes bought and wine made. The first batch of 2012 Pinot Noir and Pinot Noir Rosé were crafted in a garage. The results were better than expected. Wine was shared and enjoyed with friends and family.

Fast forward to today, we now have 8 years of experience working in the vineyard during harvest, doing punch downs, tasting the progress and envisioning how the wine is going to taste.

The base of our Pinot Noir comes from a dear friend's vineyard, we have an area of grapes that we pull from every year. Our Pinot Noir we store it in oak over 18 months before we bottle. We use a combination of new and neutral oak, always French. Once the wine develops we will blend in wines from other vineyards. All of our wine is sourced from the Southern Willamette Valley.

Our Pinot Noir Rosé comes from selected grapes that are chosen specifically to make our Rosé.

Our goal with our Chardonnay is to show elements of California style and some elements of Oregon style of Chardonnay. We store it in barrels for a brief period before blending and bottling.

The Riesling is meant to be slightly off dry with a lower residual sugar than most Rieslings produced in the Pacific Northwest.

Our wine names are based on Omar Khayam's Rubaiyat. The Pinot Noir varietal was named 'Daughter of the Vine' from one of the quatrains in the Rubaiyat.

From 'daughter' we get the letter 'D' which is De.

From 'of' we get the letter 'o' which is 'o'.

From 'vine' we get the letter 'v' which is 'vé'.

Pronounced dee-oh-vay

Our hope is you and yours enjoy our wine as much we enjoyed making it.

Live. Love. Share. Enjoy.
